Burlington-Edison High School's (B-EHS) AP Computer Science class recently welcomed B-EHS Alumna Alexa Kissas as a guest speaker. Alexa graduated from B-EHS in 2017 and attended Santa Clara University in California. She earned Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science and Physics and then earned a Masters Degree in Computer Engineering. Alexa attributes her time at B-EHS and her computer science classes for preparing her for success at university and in her current profession. She works for Cellares, a biotech company in San Francisco that is working to revolutionize cell therapy and fight cancer. She works with instruments and robotic systems to speed up the process of cell therapy and ultimately save lives.
The current students in the AP Computer Science program were inspired to see a former student excel in the area of computer engineering. They asked Alexa about career paths and college options. It was wonderful to welcome Alexa back to B-EHS.
