After 5 years of service, Board Director Holly Nielsen (Director District 3) announced her resignation in a letter to the board effective immediately. Per Board Policy 1114, the remaining board members will appoint a qualified person to serve until the next scheduled General Election on November 5, 2025. The appointed board member will have the opportunity to register as a candidate to serve the remainder of the District #3 Director’s term, which ends in December 2027.
Notice is hereby given that Burlington-Edison School District #100 Board of Directors is announcing a vacancy in the Director District #3. Interested residents of the director district may apply to fill the position.
Applicants interested in serving must reside in the Director District #3. The B-ESD boundary map details are available here: The Burlington-Edison School Board/Director District Boundaries and in the B-ESD Procedure No. 1105.
The vacancy on the five-member board will be open until filled through an application and selection process per Washington State Law. The remaining School Board members will review materials and conduct interviews with the applicants. All citizens are invited to apply, provided that they are citizens of Washington State and eligible registered voters who reside in the Director District.

Eligibility
To be eligible for appointment to the Burlington-Edison School Director District #3.
You must reside within the Director of the vacant seat; and
You must be eligible to vote.

Time Commitment Notice
The duties of a school board member will likely involve an average minimum commitment for preparation, participation, and attendance at meetings.
Attendance is required at regular board meetings, Regular meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. except in June, July, and December. June and December Regular School Board meetings are held on the second Monday at 6:00 p.m., and July's are held on the fifth Monday of the month.
School board members have school site visits, occasional special meetings, and closed/executive sessions. Members also represent the school board at various school‐related and community functions.
School board members also may participate in meetings and conferences with the Washington State School Directors Association (WSSDA). Attendance is strongly encouraged at the Annual WSSDA Conference, typically held each November.
