Electronic Resources Network and Wireless Internet Access Using Personal Devices

The Burlington-Edison School District #100 will provide access to filtered Internet via wireless network for personal computing devices belonging to students and staff for educational purposes. Please note that the School District will not be able to provide any technical support, and will not provide any facilities for recharging batteries for any personal devices. Non-Internet network resources, such as printers and file shares (e.g. i- Drives) will not be available to student or staff owned devices.

All requirements/restrictions described in Board Policy and Procedure 2022 will apply. You are not allowed to circumvent the Internet filter or click-through warnings. Personal computing devices are not to be attached to the School District network other than the wireless network provided for student use. Computing devices that have been determined to be a threat to the network integrity will be immediately removed from the network and not allowed back on until the technology department is assured that the cause for removal has been resolved.

Passwords are not to be shared with others.

The Burlington-Edison School District #100 will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property whether it is accidental or malicious means including but not limited to other users, viruses, malware, spyware, or bot traffic.

Violators will be subject to disciplinary actions, removal from wireless network and/or confiscation of equipment. As a condition of using the School District’s wireless network, I acknowledge that I have NO EXPECTATIONS OF PRIVACY in use of the network, and I specifically understand and agree that my personal computing device may be CONFISCATED AND SEARCHED AT ANYTIME school officials have reasonable suspicion of violations of the AUP, this form, or any other Board policies, guidelines, or laws.

I understand that I will have to log on to utilize the wireless network, I will receive access to the wireless network when my request is approved, and my internet activity will be filtered and tracked at all times while logged into the school’s network. All use of the network must support education and research and be consistent with the mission of the district.

Electronic Resources Agreement

All users of the district’s electronic resources are required to comply with the district’s policy and procedures. Violation of any of the conditions of use explained in the Electronic Resources Policy or in these procedures could be cause for disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion from school and suspension or revocation of network and computer access privileges.

My signature below indicates that I have read Board Policy and Procedure 2022 and the Wireless Internet Access Using Personal Devices statement and understand my responsibilities for using the wireless network. I agree to abide by the established code of conduct, and I am aware of the potential disciplinary action that will result from non-compliance.
