OATH OF OFFICE
According to statutory provision, each new director shall take an oath or affirmation to support the constitutions of the United States and the state of Washington and to promote the interests of education and to faithfully discharge the duties of his/her office to the best of his/her ability. A school district officer or notary public authorized to administer oaths must certify to this oath and the signature of the member. After properly completed, the oath of office shall be filed with the county auditor. A person elected to the office of school director begins his or her term of office at the first official meeting of the board of directors after certification of the election results. The oath of office shall be taken as the last step of the qualification of a newly-elected director but may be taken either up to ten days prior to the scheduled date of assuming office or at the last regular meeting of the board of directors held before the newly-elected director is to assume office.
