Welcome to the School Nurse Page
Nurse
School nurses are integral members of the education team, playing a key role in promoting health and helping students to improve learning readiness by working with staff, students and their families. In addition, school nurses develop Emergency Care Plans for students with diabetes, seizures, and life threatening allergies. They also develop Individual Care Plans for other health conditions and medically fragile students. School Nurses help assess students who are being evaluated for Special Education. We ore responsible for state mandated Vision and Hearing Screening each year. And, we contribute to 504 accommodation plans working closely with school counselors. School Nurses work closely with local health departments regarding communicable diseases and immunization compliance in schools.
Nurse Becky
I am Nurse Becky.  I graduated from BEHS in 1971 and from Pacific Lutheran University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing working many years at Skagit Valley Hospital in Labor and Delivery, a birthing center and women's health.   I began working in schools as an ESD nurse in a Life Skills Program in 1996 and have now worked as a District Nurse in Burlington since 2000.  My work in the schools is exciting and busy working with staff, parents and students - a real team effort- to help students be successful.

Nurse Tessa
I am Nurse Tessa. I have been working in the nursing field for 8 years at an orthopedic practice and substituting as a school nurse. I first received my nursing licence from Bellingham Technical College then went on to complete my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Washington. My goal as a nurse is to be an asset in my community to promote healthy living. I am excited to have a wonderful platform as a school nurse to build my nursing career on. I enjoy spending time with my two very active kids, hiking, playing outdoors and volunteering at our local church.

Nurse Sara
I am a lifelong Burlington resident, having attended Allen Elementary and graduating from BEHS (1995). I then attended and graduated from Seattle University in 1999 with my Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing. Right out of college I worked at Seattle Children's Hospital where I was challenged every day and learned SO much! I have been a pediatric clinic nurse since 2001, with 14 of those years being spent at Skagit Pediatrics. I love working with kids, and am so excited to be doing so in the school district where I grew up! I have a husband and two beautiful children (one of which is a student in the district and the other one will be soon!).
